                                         What does God say:

What does the Spirit of God say:

                                  What does the prophet say:

God begat a Son in heaven

“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son….”
John 3:16.

“A complete offering has been made;  for ‘God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son’ – not a Son by creation as are the angels, nor a Son by adoption as is the forgiven sinner, but a Son begotten in the express image of the Father’s person, and in the brightness of His majesty and glory, one equal with God in authority, dignity, and divine perfection.  In Him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.”
Signs of the Times. 1895.05.30.

God covenanted to make the ‘counsel of peace’ with His Son

“Thus saith the Lord of hosts saying, “Behold the man whose name is the Branch… even He shall built the temple of the Lord and shall sit upon the throne:  and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.”
Zechariah 6:12.13.

“Before the foundations of the earth were laid, the Father and the Son had united in a covenant to redeem man if he should be overcome by Satan.  They had clasped their hands in a solemn pledge that Christ should become the surety for the human race.”
Desire of Ages p834.

“The plan of redemption was arranged in the councils between the Father and the Son.”
In Heavenly Places  p12.

God Created the universe by His Son

“God has spoken through his Son… by whom He made the worlds.”
Hebrews 1:1.2.

The Father wrought by His Son in the creation of all heavenly beings. ‘By him were all things created… whether they be thrones or dominions, or principalities or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him’.”
Colossians 1:16.  Patriarchs and Prophets p34.

God gave great authority to His Son

“The Son was seated on the throne with the Father, and the heavenly throng of holy angels was gathered around them. The Father then made known that it was ordained by Himself that Christ should be equal with Himself; so that wherever was the presence of his Son, it was as His own presence. His word was to be obeyed as readily as the word of the Father. His Son He had invested with authority to command the heavenly host. Especially was He to work in union with Himself in the anticipated creation of the earth and every living thing that should exist upon it.”
Lift Him Up p18.  Story of Redemption p13.

“Christ was acknowledged sovereign of heaven, his power and authority to be the same as that of God himself.”
Signs of the Times. Jan 9. 1879.

God made mediation of all the universe go through His Son

“So in the heavenly courts, in His ministry for all created beings:  through the beloved Son, the Father’s love flows out to all;  through the Son it returns, in praise and joyous service, a tide of love, to the great Source of all.   And thus through Christ the circuit of beneficence is complete, representing the character of the great Giver, the law of life.”
Desire of Ages p21.

God was defied by Lucifer when he rebelled against His Son

“…Satan was warring against the government of God, because ambitious to exalt himself and unwilling to submit to the authority of God’s Son, Heaven’s great Commander.”
3 Spiritual Gifts p37.

“The King of the universe summoned the heavenly hosts before Him, that in their presence He might set forth the true position of His Son, and show the relation He sustained to all created beings… Before the assembled inhabitants of heaven the King declared the none but Christ, the only begotten of God, could fully enter into His purposes, and to Him it was committed to execute the mighty counsels of His will.
Patriarchs and Prophets p36.

God authorised the rebellion to be put down by His Son

Christ as Commander of heaven, was appointed to put down the rebellion.”
R&H. May 30.1899.

“And there was war in heaven, Michael and His angels fought against the dragon (Satan); and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not;  neither was their place found any more in heaven.”
Revelation 12:7.8.

“Then there was war in heaven. The Son of God, the Prince of Heaven, and His loyal angels, engaged in conflict with the arch rebel and those who united with him. The Son of God and true, loyal angels prevailed; and Satan and his sympathizers were expelled from heaven.”
1 Spirit of Prophecy p23.

“Angels were engaged in the battle; Satan wished to conquer the Son of God and those who were submissive to His will. But the good and true angels prevailed, and Satan, with his followers, was driven from heaven.”
Early Writings  p146.

God created humanity with and through His Son

“When God said to His Son, "Let us make man in our image," Satan was jealous of Jesus.  He wish to be consulted concerning the formation of man, and because he was not, he will filled with envy, jealousy, and hatred.”
Early Writings p145.

“After the earth was created, and the beasts upon it, the Father and Son carried out their purpose, which was designed before the fall of Satan, to make man in their own image.”
Signs of the Times. Jan 9. 1879.

God gave permission to fulfil the 'covenant of peace' to His Son

“The Son of God, heaven’s glorious Commander, was touched with pity for the human race.  His heart was moved with infinite compassion…. But divine love had conceived a plan whereby man might be redeemed. Before the Father He (the Son) pleaded in the sinner’s behalf, while the host of heaven waited the result with an intensity of interest that words cannot express…  Long continued was the mysterious communing – ‘the counsel of peace’ for the fallen sons of men.”

Patriarchs and Prophets p63.

“Said my accompanying angel, "He is in close converse with His Father." The anxiety of the angels seemed to be intense while Jesus was communing with His Father. Three times He was shut in by the glorious light about the Father, and the third time He came from the Father we could see His person. His countenance was calm, free from all perplexity and trouble, and shone with a loveliness which words cannot describe. He then made known to the angelic choir that a way of escape had been made for lost man; that He had been pleading with His Father, and had obtained permission to give His own life as a ransom for the race, to bear their sins, and take the sentence of death upon Himself…”
Early Writings p126.

God gave all communication between heaven and earth to His Son

“Adam, in his innocence, had enjoyed open communion with his Maker; but sin brought separation between God and man, and the atonement of Christ alone could span the abyss and make possible the communication of blessing or salvation from heaven to earth. Man was still cut off from direct approach to his Creator, but God would communicate with him through Christ and angels.”
Lift Him Up p324.

The Father had given the world into the hands of His Son for Him to redeem from the curse and the disgrace of Adam's failure and fall.”
1 Bible Commentary p1085.

“After the transgression of Adam, the Lord spoke no longer directly with man; the human race was given into the hands of Christ, and all communication came through Him to the world.”
Fundamentals of Christian Education p237.

All communication from heaven to earth since Adam's fall has come through Christ.”
Kress Collection p126.

God was pleased to give pre-eminence to His Son

“…Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature, for by him were all things created… And he is the head of the body, the church… That in all things he might have the pre-eminence."
Colossians 1:15-19.

God announced pleasure in His Son

“And Jesus, when He was baptised… lo, the heavens opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of Gold descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:  And lo a voice from heaven saying, ‘This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”
Matthew 3:16.17.

God suffered with His Son

“Christ would take upon Himself the guilt and shame of sin – sin was so offensive that it must separate the Father and the Son.”
Patriarchs and Prophets p63

“The plan of salvation had been laid before the creation of the earth… Yet is was a struggle even with the King of the universe, to yield up His Son to die for the guilty race.”
Ibid. p63.

“Think ye that the Father yielded up His dearly beloved Son without a struggle?   No, no.  It was even a struggle with the God of heaven, whether to let guilty man perish, or to give His beloved Son to die for him.”
Early Writings p127.

God removed His loving presence from His Son

“Could mortals have viewed the amazement and the sorrow of the angelic host as they watched in silent grief the Father separating His beams of light, love, and glory from the beloved Son of His bosom, they would better understand how offensive sin is in His sight. The sword of justice was now to awake against His dear Son.”
2 Testimonies 206.

God rejoiced when the covenant was completed by His Son

“When upon the cross He cried out, "It is finished," He addressed the Father. The compact had been fully carried out. Now He declares: ‘Father, it is finished. I have done Thy will, O My God. I have completed the work of redemption."
John 19:30; 17:24.  Desire of Ages p834.

God rejoiced in the resurrection of His Son

“And behold, there was a great earthquake:  for the angel of the Lord descended.  Clothed with the panoply of God, this angel left the heavenly courts. The bright beams of God's glory went before him, and illuminated his pathway.…. The soldiers see him removing the stone as he would a pebble, and hear him cry, Son of God, come forth; Thy Father calls Thee. They see Jesus come forth from the grave, and hear Him proclaim over the rent sepulcher, "I am the resurrection, and the life."
DA 779.

God rejoiced in the return to heaven of His Son

“The voice of God is heard proclaiming that justice is satisfied.  Satan is vanquished. … The Father's arms encircle His Son, and the word is given, ‘Let all the angels of God worship Him’.    Songs of triumph mingle with the music from angel harps, till heaven seems to overflow with joy and praise.”   Hebrews 1:6.  DA 834.

Caiaphas, the high priest, asked his prisoner under oath:

“I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us, are you God’s Son?”

Jesus replied, “I AM.”

The high priest rent his clothes, and said, What need we any further witnesses?  Ye have heard the blasphemy:  what think ye?”

And they all condemned him guilty of death.
(Mark 14:61-64 paraphrased)
